Fillmore Cemetery, located a short distance down this road, was founded in 1848 by Fillmore Methodist Church, which was once located on the site. Those buried there include Thomas D. Connell, founder of Connell's Cross Roads, now Fillmore, and W.P. Haughton. Also buried there is O.R. Gelette (1845-1944), one of the six last surviving Confederate commissioned officers and the last surviving officer of General Lee's staff.
