Academy Hall, in the center of Rocky Hill, Connecticut, is a rare early academy building and an unusually intact example of Federal-style architecture. Built by Abraham Jaggars in 1803, it served as a school until 1941, first as a private school and, after an 1839 fire and rebuilding, as a public school. Its ground floor remained in educational use until 1916, while the upper level served as a community center. After the nearby Center School opened, the building was used for town offices and by the local American Legion. Restored beginning in 1963, it became a museum in 1965 and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1977.
