Silvermoon Drive-in in Lakeland, Florida, is the last remaining drive-in theater in Polk County. It opened on April 14, 1948, under I. Q. Mize and M. G. Waring, with admission at 35 cents and Up Goes Maisie as its first feature. After a tornado damaged the screen in 1950, it reopened that July. Sold in 1952 to Carl Floyd's Florida theater chain, it later passed through corporate changes involving Burnup & Sims and Mastec. Its continued operation owes much to Harold Spears, who bought it in 1996 through Sun South Theatres, helping preserve it. A second screen arrived in 1985, and both screens received laser projection in 2022.
