Butler's Beach
History
6
Frank B. Butler and his company College Park Realty Co. established Butler's Beach Subdivision in 1947. At that time, it was the only African-American beach between American Beach in Duval County and Daytona Beach in Volusia County. Butler's Beach included a subdivision and a resort with a bathhouse, inn, and casino. Streets in the area reflect Butler family names: Butler Avenue, Mary Street for his mother, Minnie Street for his wife and daughter, Rudolph Avenue for his grandson, and Glorida Street for his granddaughter.
