In April 2011, one of the most devastating tornado outbreaks in Alabama history cut an unprecedented path of destruction through the City of Tuscaloosa. On street corners and in neighborhoods, thousands of citizens aided the injured, searched for the missing, cleared debris, and volunteered from dawn to dusk. Called by circumstance, burdened by tragedy, yet inspired by confident hope, they met the fury of Mother Nature with the best of humanity. Their fight back, refusal to quit, and unity ensured that the victims, survivors, and heroes would not be forgotten, while the survivors' courage and unrelenting spirit kept the voice and heart of the City of Tuscaloosa from being lost.
