Historic Latta Plantation

Historic Latta Plantation was the home of James Latta from 1755 to 1837 and is the last remaining Catawba River cotton plantation open to the public. It was also the Sample family home from 1853 to 1922, and Sample sons fought at Gettysburg in General Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia. The plantation is 3 miles west on Sample Road.
