Big Creek Church was organized in the 1820s and is the oldest Landmark church in the county. At the breakup of the Ebenezer Association, it led in organizing the Big Creek Missionary Baptist Association. The Dykes, Hilburn, Hill, Jefcoat, Knight, Shows, Sumrall, Todd, and Wade families led in the church's growth.
