This Federal home was built in 1799 for Nathaniel Frost by Thomas Eaton, who was responsible for many residential and commercial buildings in Kennebunk. The original building on this lot was built by Theodore Lyman in 1770 and later moved; that building is now a private residence on 28 Water Street. The property is often referred to as Lexington Elms for the elm trees Lyman planted in the front yard to commemorate the Battle of Lexington in 1775, though those elms later succumbed to Dutch elm disease in the 1960s.
