Savo Monument
History
Finnish people came early to Brown and Dickey Counties and settled there. The Savo Finnish Historical Society erected this monument under the direction of John G. Peterson, and its stainless steel plates were his painstaking handiwork. By Chapter 168, Session Laws of 1959, the monument and the land on which it stands became the property of the State of South Dakota.
