The site was the location of the original home plate of an old baseball field, dedicated to all Concordians who stood there hoping to clear the pines in left field or rattle the music building in right field, and to the coaches who shouted encouragement to players on and off the field, especially Charles "Bo" Baxter, Robert "Killer" Kyle, and Joseph Friedl.
