Mormon Island, Negro Hill, Salmon Falls, and Condemned Bar
History
5
Mormon Island, Negro Hill, Salmon Falls, and Condemned Bar were historic mining towns of the Gold Rush era, along with other mining camps later inundated by Folsom Lake. The Mormon Island Memorial Cemetery nearby became the reburial place for pioneers whose graves were flooded when Folsom Dam formed the lake. Their memory stands as a reminder that the present is owed to those who came before.
