Shenandoah National Park was established in 1935 to bring the western national park experience to the urban East, offering recreation and re-creation within a few hours’ drive of millions. Its highlights include Skyline Drive, 105 miles of scenic beauty; 75 overlooks with views of the Shenandoah Valley and Virginia Piedmont; 500 miles of trails leading to waterfalls, forests, and mountain summits; and visitor centers with films, exhibits, and ranger-led walks and talks.
