Pine Mountain State Scenic Trail is a long-distance route being developed in southeastern Kentucky along Pine Mountain Ridge for about 120 miles. When finished, it is intended to extend from Breaks Interstate Park to Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, with a related state park spanning a 1,000-acre band along the mountain. The trail is planned to connect Bad Branch State Nature Preserve with other protected natural areas managed by the Office of Kentucky Nature Preserves. As of May 2014, the completed section ran from Breaks Interstate Park to Kingdom Come State Park. Regulations limit use to help protect the mountain environment and restrict camping and parking in sensitive areas.
