The Piru Mansion was built from 1886 to 1890 by David Caleb Cook, destroyed by fire on February 18, 1981, and rebuilt from 1981 to 1983 by Ruth and Scott Newhall with the skills of artists and artisans including John L. Schleimer, J and J Construction Co. as contractor, Thomas L. Sutton as architect, Ebin T. Truesdell as designer and woodworker, and Steve McKeown as foreman.
