The soldier dead of the Town of Erwin were honored in 1913 with grateful memory for their deeds in the Civil War. Those remembered served in the infantry in the 23rd New York, 112th New York, 74th New York, 141st New York, 86th New York, 161st New York, 107th New York, and 179th New York; in the cavalry in the 6th New York and 10th New York; in the artillery in the 20th New York; in the 50th New York Engineers; and in the 16th Veteran Reserve Corps.
