North County Trailway is a 22.1-mile paved rail trail in Westchester County, New York, running from Eastview to Baldwin Place as part of the Empire State Trail. Built on the former Putnam Division railbed of the New York Central Railroad, it transformed a disused passenger and freight line into a long-distance route for walking and cycling when its first section opened in 1981. The trail connects with the South County and Putnam County Trailways and links to routes toward Tarrytown and the Old Croton Aqueduct. It also preserves the corridor’s railroad heritage, including former station sites, while continuing to receive investment and proposed changes in name.
