Fathers, sons, and brothers served side by side in the Seminole-Negro Indian Scout Detachment, with each new generation becoming Scouts. Soldiering and scouting came naturally to these men, whose quiet pride, dependable performance, and habitual courage made them perhaps the most distinguished auxiliary unit in United States Army history.
