Dimmitt is a prehistoric meteorite fall in the United States, named for the town of Dimmitt, Texas. Its fragments are linked to the Dimmitt strewn field, an area about 25 miles from Olton. The meteorite is one of 311 approved meteorites from Texas and one of 1,801 approved from the United States, giving it a recognized place in the study of American meteorites. Important collections of Dimmitt specimens are preserved by the University of New Mexico Institute of Meteoritics and in the Oscar Monnig Collection.
