Tijuana Cultural Center, or CECUT, opened in Tijuana’s Zona Río district on October 20, 1982, to promote cultural tourism from the United States and grew into one of the city’s leading institutions, drawing more than a million visitors annually. Its signature feature is La Bola, an OMNIMAX cinema designed by Pedro Ramírez Vázquez and Manuel Rosen Morrison, which premiered El pueblo del sol and remains Tijuana’s only IMAX theater. The complex also includes performance and exhibition spaces, the Museo de las Californias, the Jardín Caracol, and El Cubo, while offering programs, films, workshops, and exhibitions that reflect its central place in Tijuana’s cultural life.
