Fond du Lac Light

Fond du Lac Light stands at the harbor and yacht club entrance on the south end of Lake Winnebago and has become a prominent symbol of Fond du Lac, even appearing on the city seal. Built in 1933 to replace a simpler red harbor light, it gave the waterfront a more permanent and distinctive beacon. Though it later suffered neglect and narrowly escaped demolition in 1967, the lighthouse was restored in 1993 with community support. It also took on a seasonal role in Lakeside Park holiday displays. Despite leaning for about 25 years and awaiting major rebuilding, it remains a valued navigational aid and local landmark.
