Kingdom Come State Park stands on Pine Mountain near Cumberland in southeastern Kentucky, where scenic overlooks, striking rock formations, and a dedicated nature preserve share the mountain ridge. Named for John Fox Jr.’s 1903 novel The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come, it is known for Raven Rock, Log Rock, the Cave Amphitheater, and views over the valleys below. The preserve covers 225 acres and was created chiefly to protect the endangered Indiana bat; Line Fork Cave shelters more than 3,000 of them in winter. Along with wildlife and black bears, the park offers hiking, camping, fishing, paddle boats, miniature golf, and access to Little Shepherd Trail.
