The Spanish-American War lasted from April 25 to August 12, 1898, was fought mainly in the Spanish possessions of Cuba and the Philippines, ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1898, and resulted in an estimated 2,446 dead, with 90% of American casualties caused by disease, and an estimated 1,662 wounded.
