Dry Creek, later called Mt. Pleasant, was settled in 1886. The first public building erected in the area, in 1891, was a log schoolhouse that was also used as a church, and students furnished their own desks and stools. George Hardman was the teacher. Osmond Ward was organized on September 8, 1901, with Andrew M. Neilson as bishop. It was named in honor of George Osmond, first president of Star Valley Stake, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
