For more than thirty years, Dr. David Buell Nichols flew every week from Hummel Field in Middlesex County to Tangier Island in the Chesapeake Bay to provide health care to people in need. On an island with no resident doctor, the sound of his helicopter became associated with relief. Between his private practice in White Stone and the small clinic on Tangier Island, he touched thousands of lives. He also actively advocated for General Aviation in America, having seen firsthand the importance of flight, and his enthusiasm inspired many people to develop a passion for flying. His dedication and commitment extended to those in need on both the mainland and Tangier Island, Virginia.
