First Baptist Church of Blossom
Faith
10
Organized in 1873 by the Rev. Sam Anderson, this church first held services in a log schoolhouse and conducted baptisms in ponds or cotton gin pools. Its first permanent sanctuary, built about 1880 on land donated by G.B. Eades, was a single large room with a bell tower. It belonged to the Lamar County Baptist Association. In 1909, a brick veneer building replaced the old frame church, and the women of the church paid for the roof through pie suppers and sales of homemade hominy. The present structure was dedicated in 1967.
