In Westfield, New York, the first church in Chautauqua County was founded in 1808 as the Chautauqua Church. Organized by Rev. John Lindsey, it met at the cross roads, was part of the Presbytery of Erie, Pennsylvania, and was transferred to the Presbytery of Buffalo in 1824.
