Panhandle Plains Wildlife Trail
Nature
The Panhandle Plains Wildlife Trail is a state-designated system of trails and wildlife sanctuaries spanning the Texas Panhandle. Recognized by Texas as one of the state's four major wildlife trail systems, it is a regional protected network rather than a single park or preserve. Its route forms a broad loop linking natural sites from Abilene to Lubbock and Amarillo, then around to Canadian and Shamrock before returning to Abilene. The trail's significance lies in connecting multiple protected places across a wide stretch of the Panhandle Plains into one coordinated regional system.
