Built in 1855, the original portion of this building served as the carriage house and stables for the adjacent Atkins Mansion, home of Charles Atkins, a steel baron at the dawn of America's Industrial Revolution who was considered America's second richest man. Around the turn of the 20th century, a larger section was added for use as a Studebaker dealership, and it became the home of Morgan Studebaker Automobile Sales of Pottsville from the 1920s through the 1950s. Centre Street was home to many new car dealers during the early 1900s. From the 1950s through the 1970s, the building was occupied by the Scranton Electric Company as an electrical repair center for industrial motors. In 1994, Jerry and Janet Enders purchased the building, renovated it extensively, and established Jerry's Classic Cars & Collectibles Museum there.
