Taylorsville Cemetery dates to the 1850s and is the burial place of many pioneers of Plumas County, especially Indian Valley, including Jobe Terrill Taylor, founder of Taylorsville; Abbie Fort, an African-American beekeeper and land owner; Dennis and Jerome Chapman, discoverers of copper at Coppertown; Robert and Angeline Flournoy, ranchers in Genesee Valley; Lewis Stark, founder of Elizabethtown; and the Young brothers, early Taylorsville merchants. To the north is a Maidu Cemetery, the site of an early village, where peaceful people inhabited the valley before Taylor’s arrival.
