Ladies Bazaar/Luther Memorial Cottage and Labyrinth

This site was the home of the two story Ladies Bazaar, later known as Luther Memorial Cottage, and at one time served as the headquarters of the very active and often controversial Ladies League. The building stood from the early days of Camp Chesterfield's formation and was originally built in 1893, but it was later razed after a fire and many years of harsh weather had taken their toll on the historic structure. In 2009, through the donation of an IAOS benefactor and the work of volunteers, Camp Chesterfield created a replica of the Chartres Labyrinth found in Chartres Cathedral in Chartres, France, on the former site of Luther Memorial Cottage. A labyrinth walk is a modern revival of an ancient spiritual custom, following a winding one way path into and back out of a central space and offering a kind of body meditation that parallels the inner journey of prayer and reflection. The public is welcome to walk the labyrinth anytime.
