This 1904 printing press was the first used at the Conroe Courier. Mr. Wm. Perey McComb was the original owner. It was operated for a short time to produce an agriculture publication. McComb then sold the press to the Courier. The first newspaper published in Montgomery County was the Montgomery Patriot in 1845. That same year mail was scheduled by stagecoach for regular delivery. In 1854 the Texas Red River Telegraph was established. In the later 1800's the Willis Item began publication along with other publications serving Montgomery County.
