On the fiftieth anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the people of the Imperial Valley paid tribute to Pearl Harbor survivors from the valley who were members of the armed forces and served their country honorably in the Hawaiian Islands on December 7, 1941. The tribute was dedicated to those who served and survived and answered the roll call that day, and to those who served and perished during the attack. It was dedicated on December 7, 1991, and named the following roll call of survivors: Thomas L. Ary, Harry R. Brakensiek, Frank A. Garcia, Warren E. Greene, Robert J. Hatfield, James L. Johnson, Cleveland Knight, Edward A. Lincoln, Cicero Lotti, Daniel F. McCarthy, Robert K. Myers, Otto V. Peterson, Woodrow M. Qualls, Peter G. Severance, Kenneth H. Sowers, James W. Turner, Leo G. Wears, Robert S. Barrigan, Arlie C. Brown, David W. Graham, Paul J. Hansen, Archie M. Johnson, Kyle C. Jones, S.A. Kopp, Kenneth A. Marini, M. Joseph McDonald, Walter C. Norris, Robert L. Pierce, Donald R. Resch, James E. Smeltzer, Paul A. Stoner, John R. Wagner, Robert E. Wood, Walter A. Stone, and John Hafliger.
