On March 1, 1836, thirty-two Gonzales men and boys fought their way into the beleaguered Alamo to die with Colonel William B. Travis for the liberty of Texas. They were the last and only reinforcements to arrive in answer to Travis's final call. The Immortal Thirty-Two were Captain Albert Martin, Isaac Baker, John Cane, George W. Cottle, David P. Cummings, Squire Damon, Jacob C. Darst, John Davis, William Dearduff, Charles Despallier, William Fishbaugh, John Flanders, Dolphin Ward Floyd, Galva Fuqua, John E. Garvin, John E. Gaston, James George, Thomas Jackson, Johnny Kellogg, Andrew Kent, George C. Kimball, John G. King, William P. King, Jonathan L. Lindley, Thomas R. Miller, Jessie McCoy, Isaac Millsaps, George Neggan, Wm. E. Summers, George W. Tumlinson, Robert White, and Claiborne Wright. Other Gonzales men who fell at the Alamo were Daniel Bourne, George Brown, Jerry C. Day, Almaron Dickerson, Andrew Duvalt, John Harris, Wm. J. Lightfoot, Marcus L. Sewell, and Amos Pollard. Survivors of the Alamo massacre from Gonzales were Mrs. Almaron Dickerson and her baby daughter.
