The Pathe News Company recorded the activities surrounding Murphysboro's first Logan Day on August 3, 1914, and the film appeared in movie houses a little over a week later. Among them was Murphysboro's Tilford, now Liberty Theater, which opened in 1913. A fan now over a century old cooled the theater's guests as they watched this grand event; it was manufactured by the B.F. Sturtevant Co. of Boston, Massachusetts, America's oldest fan company.
