Bragg’s Corps of the Confederate Army of the Mississippi left its base at Corinth, Mississippi, the previous afternoon and passed north along this road to join other units for the attack on Federal camps at Shiloh on April 6. Breckinridge’s Reserve Corps of three brigades followed after marching from Burnsville, Mississippi.
