Eagle Rest Plantation
Industry
Eagle Rest Plantation was settled by the Scott family about 1845 and developed from a family farmstead into a highly diversified and productive cattle, jack stock, and mule ranch. In 1998, it was recognized by the National Cattlemen's Beef Assoc. as one of the oldest cattle ranches in the U.S. under continuous family ownership. It has the oldest registered cattle brand in Ballard Co. and the sixth oldest in Ky. It was designated a Kentucky Landmark and Kentucky Sesquicentennial Farm. Since 1978, it has been the home of Judge Jimmy Don Robinson and the late Dr. Charlene Robinson, a renowned stock woman and general practitioner, who worked to acquire most of the original land tracts that had been divided among heirs and to revitalize the farm.
