The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center in West Chester, Pennsylvania, is devoted to the history, science, and technology of rotary-wing flight. Opened in October 1996, it was founded by Flying Tigers veteran Peter Wright and features more than 40 civilian and military autogyros, convertiplanes, and helicopters, along with the Renzo Pierpaoli Memorial Library. Its galleries follow the development of vertical flight from early rotorcraft to tiltrotor designs and highlight leading figures in the field. The institution also preserves aircraft through restoration and emphasizes education through year-round programs, workshops, and outreach visits that introduce students and communities to aviation and science.
