Little Jerusalem Badlands State Park in Logan County, western Kansas, spans 330 acres and preserves 220 acres of Smoky Hill Chalk badlands under ownership of The Nature Conservancy. About 25 miles south of Oakley and similarly north of Scott City, it is noted for narrow canyons carved into pale white rock. The site took its name from a landscape likened to the walls and winding streets of ancient Jerusalem. These chalk formations make it one of Kansas’s most striking badlands areas and an important Smoky Hill Chalk landmark. To protect the fragile terrain, the park is open year-round in daylight, with visitors restricted to trails unless on guided tours with staff.
