Union City honored its fallen heroes of the Civil War, dating from 1861 to 1865, with a monument erected on May 30, 1884. The monument named Franklin, Pittsburg Landing, Nashville, Atlanta, Mission Ridge, Vicksburg, Gettysburg, Malvern Hill, and Appomatox.
