The first house on the townsite of Jetmore was built in 1879 by T. S. Haun, the founder of Jetmore, then called Buckner. In 1879, Haun edited Jetmore's first newspaper, the Buckner Independent, in the west room upstairs, while the ground floor served as the Haun family residence. Early in 1881, county officers were housed in the east room upstairs. On March 24, 1881, the first child born on the Jetmore townsite, Margaret Pauline, daughter of Elizabeth and T. S. Haun, was born in this house. Travelers stopped there for free food and lodging, and it served as a community center.
