Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois, developed into a major Midwestern motorsports complex anchored by a quarter-mile dragstrip and Dirt Oval 66, with additional facilities over time including a road course, off-road track, and driving pad. Opened in 1998 with backing from local entrepreneurs led by Dale Coyne, it quickly became part of a larger racing hub when adjacent land was acquired for Chicagoland Speedway. The venue became best known for hosting a longtime NHRA national event and also staged supercross, flat track, off-road racing, monster trucks, demolition derbies, and prominent dirt-track series. Despite uneven recent operations, it remains a notable multipurpose racing facility.
