First settled in the early 1780s and incorporated in 1905, Pratt was an important site in the 1912-13 Paint Creek-Cabin Creek Strike. Labor organizer "Mother Jones" spent her 84th birthday imprisoned here. The Pratt Historic District, listed on The National Register in 1984, recognizes the town's important residential architecture from early plantation to Victorian styles.
