The D. A. Murphy Panhandle Arboretum in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, is a 40-acre botanical garden and university landscape at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Panhandle Research and Extension Center. Established in 1984 as the University of Nebraska Panhandle Arboretum, it joined the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum in 1985 and was renamed in 1987 after a major endowment from local businessman D. A. Murphy’s estate. Its plantings are arranged to demonstrate species and landscape uses suited to the region, including named collections, a prairie transition site, and groves of trees and other woody plants. It continues to serve both education and public horticulture in western Nebraska.
