Eight H-1 engines like this one were used on Saturn I and Saturn IB rockets, precursors to the Saturn V rocket. Saturn IB rockets were used for Apollo spacecraft tests, the three missions of Skylab, and the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project. The H-1 engine evolved from Jupiter ballistic missile engines. It stood 8.8 feet high, measured 4.9 feet in diameter, used liquid oxygen and kerosene as propellants, and produced 205,000 pounds-force of thrust.
