Guilford Courthouse National Military Park

On March 15, 1781, musket fire, cavalry charges, and the cries of the wounded shattered the serenity of the woods and fields at Guilford Courthouse in a climactic late-war struggle for American independence. Thickets and stream valleys broke soldiers’ orderly ranks into an unpredictable fight across the battlefield. The preserved landscape remains much as it appeared at the time of the battle, with a visitor center near the American first line offering exhibits, a film, a battle map program, and information about special programs. Tannenbaum Historic Park interprets life before, during, and after the battle, while nearby Greensboro Country Park and Jaycee Park offer additional recreation opportunities.
