The depot opened in 1907 on the Wisconsin Northern, also known by the nickname "The Whiskey Northern." In 1921, the railway was sold to the Soo Line Railroad. Freight and passenger trains ran daily, and because there was no truck service until the 1940s, all freight arrived by rail and was delivered from the depot to local businesses by draymen. U.S. mail also arrived by rail. The depot closed in 1963. In 1974, the Gresham Woman's Club and former depot agent Russell Ferrall and his wife, Grace, were instrumental in moving the depot to this site, with many community members helping; its original location was just south of here on top of the hill.
