Top Thrill 2 at Cedar Point stands on the site of Top Thrill Dragster, the 2003 coaster that became the world’s tallest and fastest and introduced the strata coaster category. Built to break records, Dragster launched riders to 120 mph in 3.8 seconds over a 420-foot top hat and became a signature attraction despite persistent mechanical downtime. After carrying 18 million riders over 19 seasons, it closed in 2021 when a detached metal piece severely injured a guest. Zamperla then rebuilt the ride as Top Thrill 2, adding a triple-launch system, a 420-foot vertical spike, and a longer layout. It opened in 2024, faced another interruption, and remains a defining Cedar Point attraction.
