Village Hall was erected about 1873 by Conrad H. Flick of Bethalto and enlarged in 1885. Long the center of government and community activity, it housed the police, fire, and water departments, and today contains the public library. Lodge No. 406 A.F. & A.M. met here from 1874 to 1953.
