Balm-Boyette Scrub Nature Preserve is a 5,723-acre protected area in Hillsborough County, Florida, created with county and state conservation funding. Its landscape reflects extensive phosphate mining through the 1960s and earlier, which disturbed the land and altered water flow, yet it still contains a rich mix of scrub, flatwoods, hammocks, prairies, marshes, and swamps. Since 2016, restoration has worked to reshape parts of the preserve for both wading birds and upland wildlife. Protected plants and animals live here, while invasive species remain a challenge. The preserve is also a major outdoor recreation site, especially for mountain biking, with an extensive trail network connected to nearby Triple Creek Preserve.
