One North Third Street, designed by famed Chicago architect Louis Sullivan and built in 1914, features elaborate gray-green terra cotta, colorful mosaics, opalescent glass panels, and a palatial interior banking hall with geometric murals. It is one of eight jewel box banks built by Sullivan and is unique as the only one constructed entirely of terra cotta. Over time, the building has housed a bank, a butcher shop, a jewelry store, and eventually an ice cream parlor.
